Contest Children in Need of Protection orders (CHIPS)

Chips hearings are civil cases brought by the County seeking to exercise supervision of children who live in the home. Oftentimes a very good solution can be reached in these cases where the parties agree to allow supervision on a short term, temporary basis while the parties - usually the parents - complete treatment and other programming. Alternatively, the parties may disagree with the case management plan proposed by the County and want to schedule the matter for a hearing to contest the allegations being made by the County. Either way, an experienced attorney should be retained as soon as possible to help the parents and to give them advice.
